Brexit: Further extension granted by EU
Last week the EU-27 agreed to an additional (flexible) extension of the Brexit until October of this year. The hope is that this extension will allow the United Kingdom to come to an agreement on the terms of the Withdrawal Agreement.
The consequences of this extension are that, for the time being, there will be no change to the terms of the current situation. Until the UK leaves the EU and in any case until October this year, the UK and its citizens remain part of the EU and therefore within the EU legal sphere. UK citizens will not lose any rights previously acquired under EU law nor are prevented from claiming additional rights. Rights to think of are free movement, social security and import/export.
