UK nationals and/or their family members living or planning to start living in the Netherlands must apply for a Dutch residence permit prior to 1 January 2021. Before said date UK nationals can continue to live, work and study in the Netherlands without a residence permit.
As of 1 January 2021 a residence permit is required. Referring to our earlier NewsFlash of 2 July 2020, we would like to inform you that the IND no longer sends invitation letters since August 2020. Therefore, to apply for a residence permit, one must:
- be registered in the Dutch population register (BRP)
- have a DigiD
- receive the post digitally via MijnOverheid, and
- have a Dutch bank account.
If one meets the above mentioned criteria, a Dutch residence permit must be applied for -online- before 31 December 2020.
