Meet Eveline, EOR+ Operations Manager at MILES.
In this edition of Getting to Know MILES, Eveline shares how her career led her to Dutch EOR services, what she enjoys about her role and what makes the MILES approach personal.
Their Journey to MILES
What first sparked your interest in Dutch EOR services?
My motivation to specialise in Dutch EOR services comes from the opportunity to actively support and guide international talent throughout their employment journey in the Netherlands.
Can you tell us a little about your career journey and how you came to join MILES?
I worked for a real estate agency for almost nine years, where I was a property manager. During that time, I met many international professionals relocating to the Netherlands for employment. This gave me an interest in supporting people through the practical challenges of moving and working in a new country, which eventually led me to MILES.
What attracted you to working at MILES?
I was attracted by the opportunity to work closely with international talent and businesses and to make a real difference throughout the employment journey.
Looking back at your career so far, is there a particular experience or opportunity that has had a big influence on you?
One of the most rewarding parts of my career has been seeing the direct impact of my work on people. Knowing that I have genuinely helped a client or employee navigate a complex situation is something I never take for granted.
Life at MILES
Can you tell us a little about your role at MILES and what it involves?
I lead our Dutch EOR operations, focusing on employee onboarding, client relationships, compliance, and supporting the ongoing development of our team and services.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
The variety. No two days are the same, and every situation brings new challenges, opportunities to learn and ways to add value.
What do you enjoy most about working at MILES?
Being part of an international organisation. Working with colleagues and clients across different countries constantly challenges me to grow and bring my best every day.
What makes the MILES team special from your perspective?
We are a team of very different personalities, but our strengths complement each other well. Everyone contributes something unique, and together we bring out the best in one another.
Is there something about working at MILES that has surprised you?
I was surprised by the complexity behind international employment. What may seem like a simple question can involve multiple employment, payroll, immigration and compliance considerations.
What do you think makes the MILES approach to Dutch EOR different?
Our approach is highly personal. We combine a hands-on partnership with a genuine commitment to quality, always aiming to provide the best possible experience for our clients and employees.
Behind the Expertise
What do you find most interesting about working in the Dutch EOR space?
The industry is constantly evolving. New legislation, changing workforce expectations and international mobility trends mean there is always something new to learn.
What is one thing about Dutch EOR services that you think businesses often misunderstand?
Many businesses assume EOR is similar to temporary staffing. In reality, the legal framework is very different. An EOR is not the material employer and cannot make employment decisions without alignment with the client.
What are some of the main challenges businesses face when hiring international talent in the Netherlands?
The biggest challenge is often managing expectations around timelines. Between immigration procedures, compliance requirements and employment regulations, patience and proper planning are essential.
Is there a development in the Dutch employment, payroll or immigration landscape that businesses should be paying attention to?
The upcoming WTTA legislation is something businesses should monitor closely, as it is expected to have an impact on workforce compliance and the broader employment services market.
What's one piece of advice you'd give to a business looking to hire someone in the Netherlands without setting up a local entity?
Choose a partner that offers more than payroll and administration. The real value comes from having access to expertise in compliance, immigration and other global mobility matters.
The Person Behind the Role
What's one piece of advice you've been given that has stayed with you?
A colleague once told me that asking for help is also making a decision. By involving others, you recognise when additional expertise is needed, and that often leads to better outcomes for everyone involved.
If you could go back to the start of your career, what would you tell yourself?
Don't be afraid to make challenges visible. Ask for support when needed, stay curious and always try to look beyond tomorrow. The best decisions are often the ones that consider the bigger picture.
